The must-have inclusion of Sap favorite “Got Me Wrong” later in the set and the first-ever unveiling of “Killer Is Me,” round out the proceedings. Filled with classics from throughout their career (although noticeably missing anything from their 1990 debut, Facelift), Alice In Chains masterfully put together a performance that would appeal to casual fans while satisfying the die-hards. The show begins with a nod to the acoustic EPs, opening with "Nutshell" from the multi-platinum Jar of Flies EP, then transition into the Eastern eeriness of Sap's opening track “Brother,” before jumping back to Flies for the hit single “No Excuses.” From there, the band dig in to the “reinvention” portion of the performance, leaning heavily on acoustic versions of favorites from 1992’s Dirt and their self-titled 1995 album that take staples like “Rooster,” “Down In A Hole,” “Heaven Beside You” and “Would?” to more sublime and nuanced levels than previously heard on their original versions. I thought it was pretty interesting and some were even a little humorous. The final piece of the puzzle, however, was the doozy of a set list. What I wouldn’t give to have Pearl Jam’s unplugged version in 5.1 sound on DVD. The front soundstage is very wide and the bass is deep and clean. The stage is dim and litten up only by candles and some small lights. This is your basic full frame version of the MTV concert and it looks far supererior than the actual one you may have seen on video or broadcast television. I enjoyed the one time viewing and really wouldn’t see myself watching this again. ![]() If you enjoy their music like me then you may want to rent this one and judge for yourself if you want to purcase it. An otherworldly, emotional performance from the best band of their era. Alongside Nirvana and Pearl Jam, this is one of the jewels in the Unplugged crown. The last gasp of a great band while the frontman continued to die before our eyes. The band was formed in Seattle in the late 80’s and didn’t make it main stream until their hit “Man in the Box.” They hit the stage in New York and they play some of their best songs.
